When I saw pictures of The Woodlands, I immediately knew that I wanted to do an editorial session in the space. Between the huge arched windows, wide plank flooring, and beautiful columns, the details could be simple; the garlands sweeping across the chair and banister were created by Rosemary Keane, and the curved lines of the garlands perfectly mimicked the arched doors and moldings. Christine Alaniz’s delicate custom jewelry and the flowing gowns complimented the space better than I could have imagined. Heather Vellner and Kelsey Baranek were a dream team for hair and makeup, ensuring that each of the soft, feminine looks paired perfectly with the gowns. Each of the vendors came together seamlessly for this editorial and worked together to bring the vision to life. Having an intentionally simple session allowed us to highlight the beauty of the location, gowns, and models.

I’m a photographer in the Philadelphia area, and while I mostly work with families, newborns, maternity, and couples, I wanted to push myself this summer and plan an editorial shoot. I’ve always been drawn to romantic, feminine images, soft lighting, layers and texture, muted colors with a bit of contrast – whether it’s a maternity session or engagement session.
