Organic Couples Session

This particular session was special to me because the clients were my sister and brother in law. Savannah asked me what I was wanting for my birthday this year, so I told her I’d love to take photos of her and her husband, Iselyn. They have been married almost 6 years and have never had professional photos taken, (not even at their elopement!) So, for my birthday, I really wanted to gift this opportunity to them. They flew all the way to Dallas from Chicago to have me take their photos.

My vision for this shoot was earthy, organic, and romantic. With it’s mix of rocky and lush terrain, cliffs, and stunning views of Lake Grapevine at sunset Rockledge Park in Grapevine seemed to be the best location in my mind. I contacted Tanya Watters, with @ShopLoveTanya, and asked if she would be interested in letting us use any of her beautiful pieces for Savannah to wear. I always love that the fabrics she uses in her dresses diffuse light so beautifully. Savannah wore Tanya’s Serena top in blush and Leighton shirt in rose quartz as well as the Olivia dress in slate blue. Raquel, with @RLoveFloral in Dallas, was kind enough to contribute a gorgeous bouquet tied in hand dyed silk ribbon that complimented our vision beautifully. The ring box that was used is a Mrs. Box in Norah Mae. The hand-lettered love note was done by Kate Rondorf with @itsKateshandwriting.

Elsie De Wolfe said it best, “I am going to make everything around me beautiful – that will be my life.” This is the very reason I specialize in natural light, fine art Wedding and Portrait Photography. I’m Lauren! Owner of Lauren Marks Photography, wife to a Boston sports-fan, and Mommy to three sweet kiddos. I currently live in Rockwall and serve the greater Dallas, Fort Worth area. My passion for photography goes back as far as I can remember. I would spend hours in my Grandma’s backyard when I was little taking photos of the flowers in her garden with her film camera because they made me happy and I wanted to encapsulate that beauty and emotion. Today my approach to wedding and portrait photography is simple: to capture beautiful, authentic moments that evoke the best memories. Clients’ details, big and small, are everything. I want them to be able to look back through images that stand the test of time and relive that day again and again.
