Monique Serra Photography
I am a person who is constantly inspired by things around me, which is what initially led me to photography. One of the many things that I’m captivated by is dance; the strength, confidence, and poise that a dancer carries, the passion behind every move, and the drive it takes to be so disciplined. I knew I wanted to photograph a dancer, but what I didn’t want was an entire session focused solely on the dance, but rather, I wanted people to be drawn to the beauty of the dancer and the open space surrounding us. I contacted a close friend of mine (who happens to be a dance instructor) and asked her if she would be interested in collaborating, while letting me have complete control of the session (I had a vision and, as any artist knows, sometimes we just need to be able to use our creativity without limitations!). We met up in Eugene, Oregon at 5am to hike a local mountain and capture the sunrise (in 20degree weather!). Everything came together so beautifully and I feel absolutely blessed to have been able to be make my vision come to life!
