Kelly is an incredible talented event planner also based in Richmond, Va. While meeting with her for an upcoming collaboration, I notices a pair of old ballet shoes in her hallway. I’d been toying around with the idea of a figure study involving dancing for a while- and when Kelly told me that she was a ballerina, I knew it was a match made in heaven and from there a beautiful collaboration began. We heading out into the city and spent about an hour using the wonderful city of Richmond as our own personal dance studio. I love the contrast between Kelly’s agile, limber, delicate body and fluid movement with the dirty, gritty, concrete backdrop of our beloved city.
I’m a documentary/wedding photographer based in Richmond, Va. I’ve worked really hard over the past year to hone my brand and identify a photographic style. I love shooting with natural light and have an affinity for pretty things. I live just south of the city with my two four legged babies- Mildred Estelle and Sebastian ‘The Babe’. I’ve been a full time photographer for the past year and feel blessed and humbled with every passing month that the universe has opened so many doors and opportunities to make a living doing what I truly love. I think one of the greatest gifts in the world is the gift of wonderful moments that have passed- preserved with my camera and immortalized on photo paper. I shoot a combination of digital and film. There’s something authentic about hearing film wind in a camera- which is the same authenticity that comes with hearing a VHS load into my VCR and a the scratch of a record player right before the song starts. I’m so thrilled when people like my work and appreciate even when people don’t. There’s something about evoking pictures that makes me smile- like it or not, I love it when my photos cause people to have an opinion- good or bad.
