One thing I strive to do in my family sessions as a lifestyle photographer is to truly capture the emotion and story of the family I photograph. I want to document what each family loves about their everyday. Each moment they get to be alive and spend with their sweet family is pretty dang special, and I want to help them remember what that looks like and what it feels like.

It is no secret the Amaral Family’s home is overflowing with love. I knew this from the moment I entered, and it was so easy to capture. From mom and dad snuggling on the chair or bed to sweet baby kisses, it’s easy to get a sense for their love for one another.

Now, let’s talk about this incredible family for a minute. Ashley is my dear friend from high school. She was truly one of the sweetest, funniest, kindest girls at our school. I had the opportunity to hang out with her quite a bit, and I’m honestly a better person for it. After she graduated, she moved away and travelled the world. She has really experienced life and lived in many places around the world. Since I last saw her, she met her awesome husband and had a sweet baby boy. It was so great catching up with her and seeing the family she has created.

Lastly, I want to talk about film. Ah…. film! I’m sure I’m sounding like a broken record but I can’t stop. Won’t stop. I understand that many people may not be able to consciously tell a difference, and maybe they don’t even care. That’s cool. But to me, the whole experience is so special. From loading the film into my camera, to slowing down my shooting process, to finally receiving my digital scans, I still get excited every step of the way! Being able to slow down and make every shot count versus my digital days of rapid fire and then selecting the best single shot from 15 nearly identically images has done wonders for me in many ways. I enjoy the conversations and connections I can have with my clients when camera isn’t in my face snapping away. I truly feel as though I’ve fallen in love with photography all over again, and it is pushing me creatively. The colors and softness in film just can’t quite be matched by digital. This is my first indoor sessions where I left my digital camera home and only brought my film. I didn’t have digital to use as a crutch or fall back on, and…. I loved it.

We are a husband and wife team who strive to capture real emotion, genuine smiles, and honest love. We pride ourselves at creating timeless images with a fine art feel. We are suckers for light and the beauty of film. Being hybrid shooters, we shoot both medium format film and digital formats. We photograph weddings, families, newborn, maternity and seniors.
