This fashion shoot was taken during a morning sunrise in the California hills. I wanted to create moody and expressive images. I think this wine red dress was striking in the green hills, and we played with texture by adding a fur coat to some shots. We started shooting in muted light as the sun slowly rose, and once the sun pierced over the horizon and through the trees, magic happened. We also were visited by our make-up artist’s cat in a few shots! I think all these different elements worked well together to create a dark, yet whimsical shoot with periods of expressive, piercing light as the sun made its way up into the sky. This was my first time shooting with morning light, and I loved it!

I am a young photographer who has specialized in weddings for many years, but fashion and beauty portraiture are a growing passion of mine. As this passion has grown, my wedding photography style has taken on the unique influence of the fashion industry. I’m having a lot of fun playing with that.
