Hands down, this was one of my most spontaneous sessions ever. When learning about a small turquoise lake in the German Black Forest I immediately wanted to shoot there. So, I held a model call on my Facebook page and Sophie contacted me and we decided to meet up the very next day. The weather forecast was good, but just before the session it started raining heavily – typical April weather in Germany. This totally ruined our plans to take some spring portraits with pastel tones and light dresses. Instead we found ourselves being crammed in my 25 year old, tiny car talking about life while waiting for the rain to stop. During that talk it became clear that darker, more moody and emotional portraits would suit Sophie’s current situation much better than pastels. Having just moved back to Freiburg after a difficult time and finding herself pregnant with her first child, Sophie is going through challenging times. I wanted to portrait her fragility, her strength, and her fighter personality in a natural, simplistic way – and we both love how these images capture her so well!
As a photographer I do love to document unique characters and special moments – and I do so offering fine art portraiture, boudoir, and wedding photography. Carito Photography is based in Munich, Germany, but I love to travel throughout Germany and the world. When I don’t have a camera in hand, I’m usually reading a book, planning my next backpacking trip, or trying out a new café in town.
